South Shore Graduate Eric Tuura Receives Scholarship

South Shore Graduate Eric Tuura Receives Scholarship

Eric Tuura, a 2014 South Shore graduate, has been selected by the Ab Nicholas Scholarship Foundation to receive a $10,000 scholarship for the 2014-15 school year.  Eric is one of 68 recipients out of a total of over 420 students who applied for this scholarship.  He is currently attending the University of Wisconsin – Superior.

The mission of the Ab Nicholas Scholarship Foundation is to make a college degree affordable for Wisconsin high school students who participate as players or managers in their high school basketball program.  this scholarship is need-based and renewable annually for the next three years, contingent on grade point average and full-time status at a University of Wisconsin System school.

Albert Nicholas, founder and chairman of the Nicholas Company, Inc., in Milwaukee, established the foundation in 2012 with a $50 million endowment.  Nicholas received an athletic scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a degree in economics and an MBA in finance and investments.  Nicholas was the highest scoring guard in UW History when he graduated and was inducted into Wisconsin’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.  The foundation’s objective is to give Wisconsin students the opportunity for an education.

Eric is grateful and honored to receive this award.  The Tuura family wishes to thank Mr. David Lindelof, last year’s school counselor, for encouraging Eric to apply for scholarships.  Congratulations to Eric!
