Dexton Wilcox, a 6th grader at South Shore School District, finished 1st place at the CESA-12 annual spelling bee. This is the first time a South Shore student has won this competition! Due to Covid-19 the competition was held virtually and made up of students from around the area. To prepare for the competition Dexton studied the spelling lists that they were given. Dexton states, “I was really nervous before the competition.” Dexton now advances to the state competition on March 18, 2021. Only 50 students in Wisconsin will advance. The state competition will also be held virtually, and it will determine who will represent Wisconsin in future spelling bees. This is a tremendous honor and we wish Dexton great luck at his state competition!
