Cross Country Takes Unofficial County Championship
October 16, 2020
On October 15, 2020, our High School Cross Country team competed at a meet held by Washburn High School at Mount Ashwabay Ski and Recreation Area. The boy’s and girl’s teams both received first place for their outstanding running. These incredible athletes not only had the challenge of running the 3 mile course, but had to do it in low temperatures. Natalie Knaack states, “It was so cold, I couldn’t feel my hands. My favorite part of the whole race was the ending because I got to see Jake [Winge] in sunglasses and was able to focus on warming up.” Jake Winge adds, “It was so cold I wore my warmup jacket under my jersey, but it helped to wear my sunglasses.” Thanks to the hard work and determination of this team, they ended their season being the unofficial Bayfield County Cross Country Team Champions. They compete in their Semi-Sectional meet next Tuesday at Hurley.
