Boys Beat Northwoods

On February 17th, the South Shore high school’s boys basketball team traveled to Northwood to play a non-conference game. JV played first at 5:45pm. The starters were Ethan Helenius, Conner Helenius, Will Watrin, Izzy Rantala, and Kevin Biolo. They lost the tip, but the game stayed fairly even for the first half. Northwood slowly gained a lead against South Shore. South Shore tried to catch up, but ended up losing. The final score was 47-24. The JV found a positive, though. The amount of points they lost by was a lot less than it had been recently. The main scorers were Kevin and Tad.

The varsity played next. The starters were Doug Hipsher, Bjorn Branham, Koy Nelson, Jake Winge, and Holden Suo. Doug jumped against a Northwood player who was about his height. He and Doug both got a hand on the ball for the tip, but Doug managed to get it out of his opponent’s hand. South Shore won the tip and, after passing the ball around, got a 3-point shot from Bjorn in their first possession. South Shore started with an early lead. Northwood fought hard, though, and near the end of the game they had the lead. South Shore managed to close the gap and eventually get the lead. By the end of the game, South Shore won by 5 points, with a score of 66-61. The main scorers were Koy and Doug.
