After the fall sports wrap up and the fall banquet has ended, many athletes are looking forward to playing winter sports. High School Girls basketball practice started on November 5th after school. Many of the girls are eager to begin the long five-month journey of playing basketball. Natalie Knaack is excited for the season to start. “This year we are going to have a good team! Plus I love playing with the girls.” This year the team is a bit smaller, but they will all enjoy the season. The coaching staff is still the same; Ryan Tiberg as Head Coach and Jodi Truchon as Assistant Coach.
On November 13th, the girls had a scrimmage with Washburn and Ashland. Taylor Nicoletti thought the scrimmages went well. “I thought our scrimmages went well. We played good as a team and it was a great learning experience!”
This year, unfortunately, as of right now, there is no Junior Varsity team as they are lacking in numbers. Due to this fact, game times may vary. Please check for updated starting game times at the following website: https://indianheadco nference.org/public/genie/133/school/140/
South Shore girls basketball will kick off their regular season play at home, against Lake Holcombe, on Friday, November 16th at 6 p.m. The girls will then travel to Frederic the following week on Tuesday, November 20th before they get to enjoy their Thanksgiving break. Be sure to come and support the girls team! Go Cardinals!
