South Shore Living

South+Shore+Living

Anitra Kaczmarski

My husband and I have been vacationing on the south shore of Lake Superior since we were children.  When we got married 10 years ago, our dream of living and working in Port Wing was born.  When I accepted the Business Education Teacher position at South Shore School District in August of this year, we, along with our two young boys, were thrilled to begin our new adventure!

Our vision of south shore living in the fall consisted of copious amounts of hunting and fishing for my husband and endless hours frolicking in our yard, at parks, or by Lake Superior enjoying the beautiful sunny fall days for the boys and me.  However, that has not been the case this fall.  Our first taste of south shore living has consisted of lots of rain and wind, below average temperatures, and spending most days inside our small cabin.

Although the weather has not been what we expected, the kindness and hospitality of the community has proven to be exactly what we had hoped.  Everyone has been so welcoming and eager to offer assistance with whatever we may need.  So, despite Mother Nature’s attempt to discourage us in our new adventure, we are not allowing anything to steal the joy we feel from seeing our dreams come to fruition!  We love it here!
