Taking a trip down to Mellen, WI on Tuesday, January 23rd, the South Shore boy’s basketball team took on the Granite Diggers for a second time this year.  The first time they faced the Granite Diggers, the Cardinals walked away with a win.

At 7:00 p.m., after the J.V. was done playing, the varsity players had their turn on the court.  Starting the game were seniors Connor Sorenson, Tristin Wilcox, and Dallas Williams, along with sophomores Bjorn Branham and Douglas Hipsher.  The Cardinals started the game off hot, building themselves a 21-0 lead right away.  They kept up the intensity, ending the half with a score of 56-15 for South Shore.  The second half was closer then the first half, with Mellen outscoring the Cardinals by 2 points.  However, South Shore’s lead was too great for Mellen to catch up to. The final score was 90-51 in favor of the Cardinals.

It was a great night for many South Shore players, with four scoring over 10 points.  Connor Sorenson lead the night, with 21 points.  He was closely followed by Dallas Williams, who had 19 points, and Douglas Hipsher and Tristin Wilcox, who each had 14 points.  Connor also lead the team in rebounding, with 10 to his name.

The Cardinals go on to play the Drummond Lumberjacks on Thursday, January 25th, and the Mercer Tigers on Friday, January 26th, for a double header with the girls team.
