The South Shore boys’ basketball team took on the Hurley Midgets at their place on Tuesday, January 16th.  Having already beaten the Midgets once this season, the boys were hoping to walk away with another victory to their name. And that’s exactly what they did.

The varsity began their game 7:00 p.m., following the J.V. game. The Cardinals began strong, putting up 33 points in the first half, giving them a 13-point lead over Hurley.  The first time they played Hurley, the Cardinals had a 19-point lead at the half, but only managed to beat them by 2 points.  They didn’t let up this time.  Another 25 points were scored by the Cardinals, leaving the final score at 58-36 in their favor.

Senior Conner Sorenson was the lead scorer for the night with 31 points, followed by sophomore Douglas Hipsher, who had 14 points.  Connor was also the lead rebounder for the team, grabbing 13 rebounds. Douglas, along with seniors Tristin Wilcox and Dallas Williams, followed, having 6 rebounds each.

This win puts the boys at 9-2 overall (7-1 in the conference) heading into Friday’s home game against the Ironwood Red Devils, who they lost to by 11 points back in December.  A win over Ironwood would help them to secure their spot at the top of the Indianhead conference.  Be sure to come watch!
