On Tuesday, December 5th, the Cardinals hosted the Mellen Granite Diggers for their first home game of the season.  Having not won a game yet, the Cardinals were hoping to improve their record.

With no J.V. do to injuries, the varsity tip-off was at 6:00 p.m., instead of 7:00 p.m.  The Cardinals struggled to score but managed to stay ahead of the Granite Diggers.  The score was 19-17 at the half, with the Cardinals in the lead.

The second half started off with a little more energy than the first half.  The Cardinals found their groove and outscored the Granite Diggers by 11 points in the second half.  The final score was 45-32, South Shore, giving the Cardinals their first win of the season.

Senior Heather Ranta led the team with 10 points and 9 rebounds.  She was closely followed by Myla Lahti, Rylee Nicoletti, and Chloe Sipsas, who all had 9 points to their name.  Rylee Nicoletti led in steals, while her sister, Taylor Nicoletti, lead in assists.

The Cardinals went on to face the Northwood Evergreens on Friday, December 8th.
