It is that time of the year again. The snow is falling, the temperatures are dropping and basketball is beginning. This winter brings a brand new basketball team and season. The past seniors ended their year with a bang leaving the Cardinal name with pride and success. However, as these five valuable players part ways to begin a new chapter, so does the girls’ basketball team this year.

The girls started practice this week on Monday, November 6th. For the first week of practice, the team had four 45 minute morning practices at 7 a.m. This way, the players could work on more ball handling and shooting drills. Then in the afternoon after school, the team can work on more defense, conditioning and plays. The team has only six full practices until their first scrimmage against Washburn, on Tuesday, November 14th. With the scrimmage being so close, the team gets some much needed extra practice time this week. This Thursday, there is a half day so the team will practice from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tomorrow, on Friday, there is no school so the team will come to school at noon to have a three-hour practice to work on plays and what to run against Washburn on Tuesday.

Best of luck to the girls’ basketball team and the rest of their season!
