On Friday, October 13th, the boy’s soccer team faced off against Hayward in a spectacular game under the lights.  With the lack of a football team this year, the Washburn/Bayfield/South Shore co-op soccer team was honored with the chance to be the stars of a homecoming game.  South Shore’s only member on the team this year is sophomore Bjorn Branham.  When asked about how he felt about the homecoming game, he stated, “I’ve never been a big fan of football, so I was glad the soccer finally got a chance to be in the spotlight.”

Kick off was at 5:30 pm.  Hayward quickly gained a lead.  The score was 3-1 at halftime, with Hayward on top. Luckily, the boys were not discouraged.  Within the next half, WBS kept fans on the edge of their seats as they first brought the game to a tie, before pulling ahead to end the game victorious at 4-3.  Bjorn Branham comments, “Winning homecoming felt amazing.”

Riding off this win, the boys went down to Northland Pines on Thursday, October 19th, where they ended their seasons with a devastating loss.  Bjorn Branham asserts, “We had a pretty good season.  We had a good run.”
