On Dec. 22nd 2016, Shauna Kavajecz, a senior, put up quite the show for the home game against Winter. She came up with a total of 33 points for the night and fell just 4 points short of a career total of 1000. She was sure she was going to make it during the next game. On Dec. 28th, against the Hurley Midgets, she completed those points along with 28 more!
Shauna has been dreaming of achieving this goal since she started playing, which was pretty early in her childhood. She completed this even with theĀ trouble of tearing her ACL as a freshman. She was sitting for over half the season and only averaging 4.8 points a game. This is a huge struggle to overcome, but she did. Now, with only half the season over, she is averaging a huge 22.8 points a game. Kavajecz comments on her goal that was achieved,”I was extremely excited; it was a major accomplishment in my high school basketball career. I was also relieved that I was able to accomplish it since I had to miss most of my Freshman season because of an injury.”
Kavajecz plans on continuing her careerĀ at an undecided college in the fall of 2017. Whichever college she chooses to attend will be a lucky one. We wish her the best of luck here at South Shore and congratulate her on her amazing achievement!
