On Wednesday, October 5th, a group of six high school boys challenged the varsity volleyball players to a “Battle Of The Sexes” game.  The game was a fundraiser with half of the money raised supporting the senior class and the other half donated to the volleyball team to go towards their pink-out night. As to be expected, there was quite a lot of talk and taunting leading up to the game.  With lines metaphorically drawn in the sand, both teams anxiously anticipated the outcome.

I’ve been playing volleyball for 5 years and although it is not my favorite sport, I still have a deep passion for the game. There was no way my teammates and I where going to let the boys win; we would never hear the end of it. The boys were very self-confident going into the game.  They were definitely singing a different tune after the game! All in all, it was the most fun I have ever had playing volleyball. I would definitely do it again!

The game was best of three and the girls won 2-1. However, the boys played very well considering they don’t play volleyball regularly. And hats off to them as they organized everything including a ref and two line judges. We would like to thank Mrs. Truchon for reffing the games and Ms. Hoagland and Mr. Tiberg for line judging. We also would like to thank everyone who came to watch and support our fundraiser Which totaled $60 for the evening $30 for the senior class and $30 for the volleyball team.   Better luck next year boys!
