On Sept. 14th, sophomore Myla Lahti  traveled down to Milwaukee, WI to participate in the State 4-H horse show. After the long trip, she showed the 15th and 16th in showmanship, western pleasure and western horsemanship. In order to qualify to participate in this show, horse and rider have to get a blue ribbon in the 4-H class at the local level in the same class. She accomplished this at the 2016 Bayfield County Fair held at the end of August.

Myla has qualified for this show multiple times. In fact, this will be her third year going. The long trip was certainly worth all the effort as she and Skipa Dee Do Dah – or Hank as he is affectionally known – came home with grand champion in showmanship and placed top ten in western pleasure and western horsemanship. Myla has been showing as long as she can remember and really enjoys the thrill. “It is always a fun experience to compete against new competition. I am very proud of how I did this year and I am excited for next year.”

Just being able to participate in this show is a huge accomplishment and coming home with grand champion is the ultimate reward for countless hours of work and practice. Myla is a great example of students excelling in out of school sports as well as in school. Congrats Myla and good luck next year!
