For most students, Christmas break is thought of as recuperation from the stresses of school, sports, homework, tests, and final grades. But not for our basketball teams! Both the boys and girls played in the Best With the Least basketball tournament for the 4th straight year on December 29-30, 2014. Every year, the four smallest public high schools in the state of Wisconsin (Phelps, Mercer, Butternut, and South Shore) compete for the unofficial State Championship. And for the 3rd straight year, South Shore swept to become the Champs. The girls team first played Mercer on December 29, 2014. Mercer was much improved from years past, but our experienced team prevailed 70-58. They then went on and played Phelps the next day and dominated with a score of 68-23. Up next, the boys. They also played Mercer for the semifinal round, and handily won 48-21. For the Championship round, they played Phelps and shut down a strong team 73-56. Congratulations!!
