Middle School Girls Basketball Season Recap

The Seventh Grade Team, which consisted of four 7th graders, three 6th graders, and two 5th graders finished the 2014 Fall Season with a record of 13-4.  Sara Kangas suffered an early season injury, but showed great defensive intensity. Austyn Lovejoy rebounded strong and played great help defense, and Tiiara Lahti lead the team in scoring and also helped to bring the ball up the court.  The 6th grade members were Emily Stouffer who improved throughout the season, Lilly Tapani who played great defense, and Taylor Nicoletti, the point guard, she found her shooting range this fall as well from behind the arc. Abby Lahti and Grace  Zupke were co-rookie of the years and continued to learn the game and play with great intensity.  The team won the Drummond Tournament, and the Washburn Round Robin. Finishing 2nd to Ashland in the Northern League Standings.

The Eighth Grade Team, which feature 6 players plus a couple 6th and 7th grade subs.  Myla Lahti brought the ball up and shot from distance, Adrienne Nicholson was rookie of the year and improved with each game. Morgan Rock  played tremendous defense and was co-captain with Myla.  Rylee Nicoletti finished second on the team in scoring and mastered the pick and roll.  Sophia Winge controlled the middle of the zone defense used throughout the season and found her shooting range.  Meg DeHate joined a game or two into the season and solidified the team which finished 11-6.  Winning the South Shore Round Robin, The Drummond Tournament, and the Washburn Round Robin, plus finishing  tied for 3rd in the Northern League capped off an outstanding, exciting, and fun season.
